Men of Righteousness: Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise

"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise."

--Benjamin Franklin

This saying rings true in more ways than one. Now, granted, if there is a correlation between good sleeping habits and enjoying the good life then I guess I've missed my mark. I believe all men can see concern in Benjamin Franklin's remarks.

We strive to be healthy because we want to live long enough to see our childrens', children grow up. We would like to have accumulated some type of wealth so that we can retire grumpy old men with a solid financial backing. We want to be wise, so we can teach our children the ways we believe they should go and the one God we want them to follow.

Today's Christian man can feel trapped by the pressures that this society has put on us to be that "perfect" husband, father, teacher, preacher... man.

David says in Psalm 30:6-7 that "when I felt secure, I said, 'I will never be shaken.' O LORD, when you favored me you made my mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed."

I have often felt like David here. When I know that God is with me I am secure and I hold fast to my convictions, and when i don't I falter. I want to continue to have the wisdom to know that my God is always with me and will never leave my side.
